Annual Examinations

Just like with people, it is important that your pets have yearly physical examinations.  This may allow the doctor to catch disease earlier and initiate treatments if needed.  A physical examination is required to have vaccinations performed.

Sick Visit

In addition to yearly physical examinations, At Your Door Veterinary Services is equipped to diagnose and treat your pet for a variety of illnesses, from ear infections to eye disease to metabolic diseases.  We are not equipped to handle emergent or critical cases and recommend that if your pet is having an emergency, that you bring your pet to a 24-hour emergency hospital.  If you are not sure what constitutes an emergency, please visit our Emergencies page.

Diagnostics

Our housecall practice works with outside laboratories and is able to offer a variety of common tests including:

  • Full bloodwork (CBC, chemistry)

  • Fecal evaluation

  • Urinalysis & urine culture

  • Heartworm and tick disease testing

  • FeLV/FIV testing

  • Cytology

  • Many more

The results of these tests are usually finalized within 24-48 hours with more specialized testing requiring longer (up to 7 days).

While the majority of our diagnostics are sent out, there are a few tests that can be performed in your house. We have a small portable blood machine that evaluates electrolytes, kidney values, red blood cell count and blood gas, a portable ultrasound to look for free fluid in the chest and abdomen, and equipment to perform testing of the eyes.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are important in trying to prevent infectious diseases which can be life-threatening and costly.  Our vaccine protocols are based off guidelines from the American Animal Hospital Association but will also be tailored to your pet's life-style.

Microchipping

Microchips have allowed millions of pets to be reunited with their owners.  Microchipping is a simple procedure that does not require anesthesia.  A small chip, about the size of a grain of rice, is injected beneath your pet's skin - usually between the shoulder blades.  Each microchip has a unique ID code.  If your pet gets lost and is taken to a hospital or shelter, they will scan the microchip to retrieve this unique code. With this number, the company will be able to contact you and reunite you with your pet.  Therefore, it is important that you keep your contact information up to date.

Online Pharmacy

At Your Door Veterinary Services works with a reputable online pharmacy that allows you to purchase a wide variety of medications including monthly heartworm, flea & tick preventatives, prescription diets, dermatology products/shampoos and life-long medications.  These medications will be shipped directly to your home and some have an AutoShip option so that you never run out of medication again.  Please click here to visit the pharmacy.
